Sharon Lee Sackrider Callahan, 79, of Gastonia, NC passed away on July 13, 2019, at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC. She was born September 12, 1939, in Wamego, Kansas to the late Wilford and Bertha Sackrider.

Sharon graduated from Wamego High School in 1957 and attended a business school in Topeka, Kansas.  She was an excellent Executive Secretary at several organizations, including secretary to the President of Kansas State University. Later she trained as a Medical Transcriptionist, specializing in Radiology and had a very successful career, working up to the day she died.  Sharon was multi-talented and dedicated to her family and always ready to help whenever needed.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 39 years.  She married Charles Callahan on April 1, 1980.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving in her immediate family are Granddaughter Juilet Murdock; Sons Paul Murdock, James Murdock; Nieces Debbie Birk and husband Dan of Gastonia, Julie Green of Olathe, Kansas; Great nieces and nephews Ashley Birk, Courtney Birk, Evan Green, and Brett Green; Cousin Judy Stiers.   Surviving in her blended family are siblings-in-law Patricia,  Sally, and Joseph;  step-son Steven Callahan, step-daughter Christine Callahan; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Sharon is preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters, brother-in-law Lynn Depew, nephew-in-law Kelly Green and step-son William Callahan.

Her memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sharon’s name to your favorite charity would be preferred.
