Richard Blackledge

Richard Earl Blackledge, 93, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was born September 7, 1927 in Pearl River County, Mississippi to the late Richard Louis Blackledge and Willie Kate Thames Blackledge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Marie Tate Blackledge and brother, Glynn Blackledge.

Richard retired from Plantation Pipeline after 40 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Helena, Alabama. Richard was an avid bowler, bass fisherman and traveler.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Rick Blackledge and wife Linda of McAdenville, James Blackledge and wife Cecilia of Lincolnton, Debbie Blackledge Kocher and husband Dan of Huntersville; sister, Jerri Blackledge Easterly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Richard’s services will be private.
