Obituary

Linda Marie Griggs Vernon, 71, passed away at Caromont Regional Medical Center on Monday, February 1, 2021. She was born September 2, 1949 in Waynesville, NC to the late Clarence Elmer and Argle Jane Smith Griggs.

She was preceded in death by her brother Clarence “Bud” Griggs, sisters Evelyn Parham, Brenda Pounders, and Mildred Griggs, uncle Walter Griggs.

Linda loved spending time with her family, shopping, and her grand-dog Fable.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 48 years Ollie Vernon; children Michael “Red” Vernon (Anja), Mark Vernon (Holly), and Tammy Marie Vernon (Tony Derick Reep); sisters Ann Adams, and Susie Metcalf; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Sisk Butler Funeral Home on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Linda’s memorial service will be held 6:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the Chapel at Sisk Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Don Capell.
