Leona Violet (Cooper) Atwell

Obituary

Leona Violet Cooper Atwell, 94, of Bessemer City, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on June 6, 2022. She was born January 3, 1928, in Loudoun County, Virginia to the late Jacob Edward Cooper and Katie Lorena Pearson Cooper.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Arnold Atwell; son-in-law, Ben Hayes; all her siblings. 

Leona loved square dancing, round dancing and being active in her church. She liked helping in the food pantry. Leona loved having friends and family for dinners and picnics. 

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Andrea Hayes, Cindy Atwell; grandchildren, Mark, Christina (Wes), Calvin, Candy; great-granddaughter, Makayla; great-great-grandsons, Jaxson, Jayce; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services to be announced at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 38011 Morrisonville Rd, Lovettsville, VA 20180
