Larry Carlton Scott, 78, of Kings Mountain, passed away at his home on January 25, 2023. He was born June 26, 1944, in Gaston County, to the late Aubrey Scott and Ruby Brady Scott.
He is preceded in death by older brother, Gus Scott.
Larry was a United States Air Force veteran who served in fire and rescue during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served several times as church council president. Larry retired from Champion Labs after 27 years in management. He loved his family, rebuilding cars, fishing, and tinkering with small things. Larry always had a funny quote or story that made people laugh as well as being known and loved in the community. He loved going on adventures to look for car parts, fishing spots, or watching the grandkids play sports.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Frances Groves Scott; sons, Brian Scott (Tonya), Eric Rhom (Tara), Greg Scott (Ann), James Scott (Dawn); honorary sons, Darryl Ford and Walter Wade; sisters, Carol Scott, Vicky Burns (David); brother, Mike Scott (Betty); grandchildren, Jesse Scott, Cody Scott, Ashley Rhom, Sydney Scott, Christopher Scott, Cameron Rhom, Matthew Rhom; and furbaby, Max, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
Larry’s funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Grace Lutheran with Pastor Ron Orovitz officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
