Joyce Whitner

Joyce Cobb Benson Whitner, 68, of Stanley, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1st 2020 surrounded by her family. The daughter of Cecil Cobb Senior and Margaret "Peggy" Taylor, she was born on December 16th, 1951 in Mecklenburg County.

She found the most joy in, as she would say, her grandyoungins.

Survived by her husband of 40+ years, Ronald "Ron" Whitner, son Richard "Ricky" Cobb and wife Robin of Charlotte, NC, daughters Stephanie and husband Wayne Jordan of Charlotte, NC, Teresa and fiance Joe McDonald of Myrtle Beach, SC, Wendy Whitner and husband of Bessemer City, NC, Grandchildren, Cody, Kassie, Savannaha and Michael, Cameron, Hailey and fiance Rashawn McCorkle, Marco and wife Logan Chavis, Destiny and husband Chakal Lopez, Victor and Ashley, Amanda, Hector, and Jesus. Great Grandchildren Kylie, Brianna, Madison, Michaela, Sophia, Sandra, Scarlette, Lanxton, Laney, Emma, Bella, Micah Blue and Mateo and a God sent granddaughter Holli Chavis.

She was preceded in death by her father Cecil Cobb Senior, mother Margaret Taylor, stepfather Simon Taylor, Sister Karen Glenn, Brother Timmy Taylor, son Larry Neal Benson Jr., granddaughter Shyanne Nicole Chavis and son in law Charles Jr Chavis. Sisters Kathy and Larry Thomas, Deborah and Eddie Broome, Brothers Cecil Cobb and wife Patty, Bobby Crump, and Michael Taylor. Aunt Mary Smith and cousin Marianne Thompson. Several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held on October 17th, 2020 at Jesus Christ Full Gospel Church, 3601 Gibbon Rd Charlotte, NC 28269, at 12pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
