Dianne Starnes

Dianne Delk Rhyne Starnes joined her Heavenly Father on October 23, 2019.  She was born on November 10, 1950 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Claude Washington Delk and Willie Jean Hamilton.

In addition to her birth parents, she was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Herman Hulton and Cora Ratchford Rhyne.

Dianne was a graduate of Dallas High School, Gaston College, Livingstone College and UNC-Charlotte, from where she held undergraduate, graduate and post graduate degrees. She was retired from Gaston County Schools.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband John P. (Pat) Starnes of the home; son Cory Hulton Starnes (Kim), of Gastonia; beloved stepchildren Cindy Starnes Thomas (Steve) of Gastonia, Mark P. Starnes (Wanda) of Granite Falls, Mack K. Starnes (Susan) of Gastonia and Candice Starnes Rednour of Cherryville; two grandchildren John Patrick Starnes of Virginia and Addison Leigh Starnes of Belmont; three sisters, Wanda R. Lamb of Cherryville, Mary Anne Edmiston (Jim) of Troutman and Carol Melanson of Bryson City; seven step-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren and a menagerie of beloved fur babies.

Family and friends will be received at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, Tri-County Animal Rescue or to the Department of Health and Human Services, Foster Care Division.
