David Herman Alm, 74, of Gastonia, passed away on August 20, 2021. He was born February 18, 1947, in Mecklenburg County to the late Bernard H. Alm and Myrtle Short Alm. David was a member of Firestone Wesleyan Church. He was employed by Firestone Mill, IBM, Kodak, and Danka before retiring after 38 years. He enjoyed carpentry/woodworking, yard work and everything Andy Griffith. David would always say, “My dad was a carpenter, my Savior was a carpenter and therefore I’m a carpenter”.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 54 years, Judy Maney Alm; sons, Christopher Alm and wife Leslie, Joseph Alm and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Virginia Cherry, Wesley Alm, Daniel Alm; mother-in-law Nell Maney; sister-in-law Katrina Maney; nephew Jamie Price and wife Meredith and their family; and his pet squirrel, Alvin.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM at Firestone Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
David’s memorial service will be held 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Firestone Wesleyan Church with Rev. Don Avore officiating.
His burial will be private.
