Charles Gehring

Charles William Gehring, 85, of Bessemer City, passed away at CaroMont Regional on March 20, 2023. He was born June 13, 1937, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Chester Gehring and Violet Lively Beisel.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Manning Gehring; brother Don Beisel; sisters Patti Blake and Mary Smittle.

Charles was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of the Bessemer City American Legion Post #243 where he served as Commander for over 20 years.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Robert Gehring, Jeff Gehring (Michelle); stepdaughters, Cindy Truesdale (Buell), Jackie Brotherton (Roger), Lynn Anderson (Warren); brother, Duane Gehring; sisters Linda Cline, Mary Yonley, Carolyn Potts and Shelby Thomas; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

Charles’s graveside service with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday on March 22, 2023, at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Tripp Hord officiating.
