Winford "Buddy" Penner

Winford “Buddy” Penner, 92, of Gastonia, passed away at his home on July 18, 2023. Born in Gaston County, to the late George Arthur Pinner and Ella Elizabeth Rector.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Jean and second wife Jo; son, Alan Penner; sisters, Gertrude Hoffman, Cora Dougan, Ila Crane, Loyd Penner, Ostell Penner, Lois Hoffman, Velma Head, Georgia Hoffman; stepson, Lee Carswell.

He was a retired machinist.  Buddy was a man of God and a member of Charity Independent Baptist Church.  He was a devoted family man, an avid fisherman.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing cards and was a very proud American.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Carlotta Anderson (Richard), Bridget Penner; grandchild, Shelly Toney (Matt); great grandchildren, Ryleigh Hendrick, Hayden Hendrick, Jordan Toney, Reagan Toney; step children, Jane Sutton, Ann Ball, David Carswell; lifelong friend, Charlie Kale; special nephews, Doug Bell and Steve Bess; along with a number of nieces, nephews, friends and others that he loved.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City. on Thursday, July 20^th. 

Buddy’s funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, July 21st, at Charity Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Pressley officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery
