Virginia Dare "Jennie" Harmon Dixon, 90, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Peak Resources, Cherryville. She was born on December 13, 1926 in Gaston County to the late Lester and Margaret Taylor Harmon.

Jennie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City. She also retired from Threads U.S.A. after 45 years of service. She was very active in her church and received the Lay Person of the Year Award on several occasions. Jennie always thought of others and was very selfless.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Lawrence Thomas Dixon.

Left to cherish her memory are her first cousin Robert Thomas, Sr. and wife Barbara of Acworth, Georgia; cousins Robert Thomas, Jr. of Mableton, Georgia and Lawrence Lee Thomas of Acworth, Georgia; aunt Irene Harmon of Bessemer City; niece Denise Gilreath of Bessemer City; her extended family and church family.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, Bessemer City with Pastor Tripp Hord officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 110 W. Alabama Avenue, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
