Vergie Blankenship

Vergie Helms Blankenship, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Country Time Inn Assisted Living in Kings Mountain. She was born on November 11, 1938 in Gaston County to the late John Wesley and Blanche Marie Waters Helms.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Clinton Graham; sisters, Katherine Crumpton, Betty Strickland; brothers, Kenneth Helms, Randy Helms.

Vergie enjoyed singing, performing and cooking.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Paula G. Haney and husband Jack of Bessemer City, Cathy G. Stephens and husband Neil of Belmont, Cheryl G. Wall of Maiden, Ginny G. Summitt and husband Gary of Bessemer City; brothers, Keith Helms and JW Helms both of Gastonia;10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Rev. David Crumpton officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunnyside Baptist Church Cemetery, Bessemer City.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the funeral home.
