BETTY SUE BLACK AUTEN

Sue Black Auten, 97, passed away at Peak Resource, in Shelby N.C on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was a native of Gaston County and the daughter of the late William R. Black Sr., and Pearl Davis Black Hampton and Stepfather Cleve Hampton. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Carl W. Auten, her son Craig W. Auten and brother William R. Black Jr. She is survived by her grandsons Joshua and Kyle Auten, three great-granddaughters Morgan, Madison, and Allissa Auten and daughter-in-law Anearl C. Auten, and a number of nieces and nephews. Sue was a lifetime member of Faith United Methodist Church. A special thank you to the staff at Peak Resources of Shelby who have given her loving care for the last eight years.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Monday, July 15, 2024. Sue’s Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Pastor Don Mason officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. 

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
