Sarah Virginia Straughn

Sarah (Goodie) Virginia Straughn, age 85, passed away on October 11, 2024, after months of declining health. She was born February 2, 1939, in Jones County to the late Jesse James Taylor and Beatrice Virginia Griffin. Sarah worked for various jobs and companies over her lifetime including ITT, Alacatel and eventually a security/receptionist with Glaxo-Smith Kline before retiring to care for her husband.

Sarah is survived by her sons: Floyd, Jr, Frederick (Bennie), and Billy Joe; daughter, Pam and stepson, Chad; eleven grandchildren. She was blessed with many great grandchildren as well.

Sarah was preceded in death by her father, mother, several siblings, and her husband, Randy Straughn.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately after the service.

A private interment will take place, for immediate family, at a separate date and time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carolina Caring/Gaston Hospice, 2240 Remount Rd, Gastonia NC.
