Rose Smith

Rose Marie Rohm Smith, 91, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 12, 2019. She was born April 18, 1927, in Gaston County to the late David Lee and Ethel Jenkins Rohm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Lee Smith; her twin children, Judy Carole Smith Stroupe and Jeffery Darryl Smith; brothers, Ivan and Arthur Rohm; sister, Genevieve Rivenburgh; and an infant sister.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Robert Smith, Dennis Smith and wife Patsy all of Gastonia, Don Smith and wife Jane of Bessemer City; Ann Stifflemire and husband James of Lexington, Texas; brother, Leonard Rohm and wife Marlene; sisters-in-law, Shirley Parker and Nancy Rohm; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-granddaughters.

Rose retired from Wix Filters with more than 20 years of service. She was also a member of the old Spencer Mountain Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Rose's life, officiated by Rev. Roger Overton, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Sisk-Butler Chapel.

Her family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
