Robert Holt

Robert "Rob" Glenn Holt, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation, Cherryville. He was born October 27, 1929 in Stanley County, son to the late John B. and Olar Priscillia Hudson Holt.

Robert was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was active in outreach and visitation of the sick and visitation of the elderly which he did not think he was a part of. Robert was owner of Holts Restaurant and retired from Osage Mills after 35 years of service. After retirement he worked at Crowders Mountain Golf Course. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He coached his sons and many other young men in Little League baseball. He also served in the United States Army and Navy. The family wishes a special thank you to the staff at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation of Cherryville for their care and love for Robert.

He was preceded in death by his brother William Bill Holt; sisters Marion Holt, Laura Ruth Holt; daughter in-law Beverly Cates Holt and special friends Richard and Margaret Franklin.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years Maxine Holt; sons Robert Holt, Jr. and wife Ann of Dallas, Terry Holt of Bessemer City; grandchildren Shannon Zerrusen and husband Ray, Leslie Wright and husband Brandon, Stephanie Gee and husband Chad, Fraleane Hudson and husband Jason; great-grandsons Dakota, Carson and Pierson; great-granddaughters Brittany and Briley; 2 great-great grandchildren;

His family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.

Robert's funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City with Rev. Tom Ravan and Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with full military rites by Bessemer City American Legion Honor Guard.
