Rita Saunders Baynard, 68, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby on January 3, 2019. She was born January 4, 1950 in Gaston County to the late Sadie Richards and Paul Norwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband James Lenard Baynard; sons Troy Arnold Ballard and family of Raleigh, Ronald Eugene Ballard and wife Crystal of Bessemer City; daughter Paula Ballard Cole and husband Mike of Gastonia; sister Jenny Bell of Dallas, brother David Richard of SC; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren
