Rev. Robert Taylor

Rev. Robert Lee “Bob” Taylor, 93, passed away at Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital, SC on Sunday, May 9, 2021. He was born August 21, 1927 in Gaston County to the late James Herbert Taylor and Dicie Louvada Eslinger Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Carl B. Taylor and Harry Taylor; and sister, Lillian B. Creed.

Rev. Taylor was a United States Merchant Marine veteran and a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University (formerly Central Wesleyan College). He was a retired Wesleyan Minister who pastored at Rain Hill, Hickory, Mocksville, Pleasant Union, Bennettsville and Bible Wesleyan Churches. Bob was a lifelong member of Firestone Wesleyan Church in Gastonia. He was also a member of the SC Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening and the beach.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 76 years, Lambertine McClure Taylor; son Dan Wesley Taylor of the home; granddaughter, Riva Lee Taylor Harmon (Greg) of Phoenix, Arizona; great-granddaughter, Rose Taylor Harmon of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Earle B. Taylor of Union, SC; and sister, Neva Ruth Fowler of Asheboro, NC.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Don Avore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Firestone Wesleyan Church, 1700 Union Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054
