Rebecca Seymour

Rebecca Brackett Newell Seymour, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Lincolnton Rehabilitation. She was born on August 4, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Robert Green and Mattie Queen Brackett.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Acel C. Newell, and her second husband of 21 years, Rev. David Lee Seymour, Sr.; brothers, Ross, John, William, R.G., and Ben Brackett; sisters, Alpha Kennedy, Violet Lynn, Dorothy Coleman, Janie Brackett, and Frances Brackett.

Left to cherish her memories is her son, William "Bill" Newell; daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta Burkett and husband Dale, Carolyn Randolph and husband Jerry, Mary Smith and husband Marvin; step-son, David Lee Seymour, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, James Brackett and wife Frieda; grandchildren, Risha Milner and husband Chad, Mark Loflin, and Jeffrey Loflin; great-grandchildren, Damien Loflin, and Brayden Milner.

Rebecca attended Indiana Wesleyan University and Southern Wesleyan University. She was a lifelong Wesleyan and was a former pastor's wife. She was currently a member of Boger City Wesleyan Church. Rebecca was retired from the Gaston County school system where she worked as a custodian.

Her funeral service will be held at 4pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Boger City Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Jim Schall officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 3 to 3:45 prior to the service at the church.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 30, 2017, at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia
