Raymond Jerome "Jerry" Alford of Bessemer City passed away on Monday, March 12 at Testa Hospice House, Kings Mountain.

Jerry was the son of the late James Luther and Lillian Hodge Alford. He was born Oct. 23, 1943. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bessemer City. Jerry served in the United States Army and was a member of the Bessemer City Fire Department for
10 years. He retired from Bridgestone/Firestone with 43 years of service, then worked with Sisk Butler Funeral Home for 17 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Adora Goode Alford; daughter, Heather Denise Alford and grandsons Joshua Luke Alford and Jacob Gregory Mitchell; great grandson, Cohen Alford; sons Ray Alford & grandchildren; Darrell Alford (Beverly) and grandchildren. Special family includes sisters-in-law Darlene (Lanney) Lewallen, Susan (Kenny) Maney, brother-in-law Johnny (Paula) Goode; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, his special child and friend Chopper.

His family will receive friends Thursday, March 15 at First Baptist Church FLC from 12 - 1:45 followed by celebration of life service for Jerry at 2:00 pm Thursday at the church, with Pastor Wes Brown & Pastor Scott Whitener officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with full military rites by Bessemer City American Legion Post 243.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Testa Hospice House for their compassionate care, and the City of Bessemer City Family for the love and support during this difficult time.
