Plato Marshall Kinley, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 4, 2018 while at home. He was born December 22, 1928 in Bessemer City, NC to the late William Lee and Sarah Cordelia Clark Kinley.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Thelma Cloninger Kinley; 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 infant brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Teresa M. Kinley of Helena, Montana, Yvette C. Woods and husband Thomas E. Woods, Jr. of Edgewater, Maryland, and Marsha C. Kinley of Belmont, NC; grandchildren, Jessica, Katherine, and Anthony Woods; brother Ernest C. Kinley and sister-in-law Kathleen M. Kinley of Bessemer City, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marshall was a veteran, Private First Class, of the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, serving as an artillery field observer in Korea and received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He retired from Homelite Textron, Inc. after many years as a machinist. He was also a long-time, faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Dallas. He will be remembered for reading the Bible to his family before evening meals and listening to gospel radio daily. He was an avid bee-keeper, gardener, and television/electronics hobbyist.

Marshall's family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, September 10, 2018 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Rd, Dallas, NC 28034.

His funeral service will be held at 4:30 pm Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. John Duncan and Rev. George Rhyne officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Randy Benoy, Jeffrey Cloninger, Todd Cloninger, Boyce Kinley, Darrell Smith, and Anthony Woods.
