Otis Loyd Parker

Otis Loyd Parker, 96, of Bessemer City, passed away at his home on January 28, 2024. He was born October 7, 1927, in Madison County, Alabama, to the late Joseph Parker and Sara Margaret Herron.


He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Evelyn Bess Parker; sister, Gin Deal; brothers, Ed Parker, Noble Parker, and Frank Parker.

Otis was a member at Landmark Baptist and Harvest Baptist Church for fifteen plus years. He retired from Danaher tool group. He enjoyed working in the vegetable garden and flower garden. He loved piddling outside, sitting on the front porch and falling asleep in the swing. Otis had the gift of baking and could bake a coconut cake from scratch. He loved the Lord, his wife, and his Dachshund dogs very much. He was ready to be with his savior.


Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Chris Bridges (James); grandson, Brad Hinson (Misty), Robbie Bridges (Megan), and Ryan Bridges; great grandchildren, Cheyanne, Luke, Colton, Rhylee, and River; Along with numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff at Gaston Hospice.


The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Harvest Baptist Church on Sunday, February 4, 2024.


Otis’s Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Carroll Hennessee and Pastor Robert Ammons officiating.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gaston Hospice, Po Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
