Oleeta Willowdean Detter

Oleeta Willowdean Detter, 91, of Gastonia, passed away at White Oak Mannor on October 29, 2023. She was born June 14, 1932, in Gaston County, to the late William Edward Miles and Grace Bucannon Miles.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Detter; brothers, Melvin Miles, Clyde Miles, Ronnie Miles; great grandchildren, Aven Dean Stone, Amy Lean Martin, Lewis Christopher Detter, Jr.

A loving mother above all else, Oleeta's greatest joy in life came from taking care of her children. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that her family always felt supported and loved. Beyond her role as a mother, she possessed an incredible talent in the kitchen. She had a gift for cooking that delighted the family. Her meals were not only delicious but also served with a side of love. In her younger years, Oleeta played the piano in church. Her life was characterized by following the path laid out by her faith. She found solace in being a woman of God and considered herself a soldier in His army.
May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire kindness, love, and compassion in all whose lives she touched.

Left to cherish her memories are children, David Martin (Rebecca), Pamela Darlene Barrette (George), Kenneth Martin (Megan), Jeffery Martin, Lewis Christopher Detter, Sr.; brother, Charles Miles; sisters, Doris Maltva, Patricia Clewis (Elbert), Gennee Owens, Carroll Sue Crane (Eric); multi grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Monday, November 13, 2023.

Oleeta’s Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Marie Dunn officiating.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens
