MIKE CARPENTER

Michael Steven "Mike" Carpenter, 59, of Gastonia, passed away on August 3, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born on May 10, 1957 in Cleveland County, to the late Donald Carpenter and Carolyn Angel Carpenter Millwood.

Mike was an inspiration and he touched the lives of many people. He was involved in Special Olympics, supported Toys For Tots, and was a member of the Gastonia advisory board as an advocate for people with disabilities. Mike enjoyed playing bingo, lottery tickets, and doing volunteer work. He was employed by Regal Cinemas Theaters for 17 years where he enjoyed meeting people. Mike was a member of East Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the workers at Gaston Residential for their care.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather Jack "Pat" Millwood.

He is survived by his brothers, Donnie Carpenter and wife Susan, Keith Millwood and sister, Cindy Bridges all of Bessemer City; nieces, Krista Kiser, Carrie Carpenter, Cheyanne Westberry, Chenoah Millwood; nephew, Brian Gibson; stepmother, Wilhemina Millwood; a number of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at East Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Parker, Rev. Jerry Millwood and Rev. Bobby Bodenhamer officiating.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City and other times at the home of his sister, Cindy Bridges.
