Mary Sisk

July 14, 1925 — September 7, 2018

Gastonia, North Carolina

Mary Genelle "Jean" Waldrop Sisk, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Friday September 7, 2018 while at home. She was born July 14, 1925 in Gaston County to the late Willis G. Waldrop and Minnie Emmaline Hill Waldrop.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin William Sisk; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jeff Mitchell; brothers, Leonard and John Waldrop; sisters, Mattie W. Taylor, Eunice W. Jacobs, Ruth W. Griffie, Gertrude W. Strickland, and Clara W. Sisk.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Cara Sisk Moore of Gastonia; grandchildren Jeffrey Blair Goodwin and wife Teresa, Gregory Carl Moore and wife Melissa, Shelley Shuford, Jeffrey Matthew Mitchell, Jr and wife Laura; great-grandchildren Josh Goodwin, Justin Goodwin, Trey Moore III, Scott Moore, Kendall Moore, Gage Brown, McKenzie McBryant, Hannah Mitchell, Natalee Mitchell, Andrew Norris and Madison Norris.

Jean was a lifelong member of Firestone Wesleyan Church. She was a graduate of Central Wesleyan High School and attended Central Wesleyan College in Central SC. Jean worked in textiles, was a Coordinator for Woolco Department Store, and later worked in the credit department and sales for Belk Department Store.

A funeral service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, September 10, 2018 at Firestone Wesleyan Church, Gastonia, with Rev. Matt Mitchell, Jr., Rev. Wayne Spear, and Rev. Don Avore officiating.

Jean's family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 pm at the church.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Firestone Wesleyan Church, 1700 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054
