Mary Kaye Mauney Metcalfe, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at home. She was born November 10, 1941 in Gaston County, daughter to the late Paul Bergin and Mildred Lucille Childress Mauney. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elvin Metcalfe.

Kaye was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a friend to all. Kaye was a fantastic cook, avid gardener and music lover. Her family expresses a special thank you to Kimberlle June, her devoted friend and longtime caregiver.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Brenda Metcalfe French of Richmond, Virginia; son Robert Kenneth Wyont and wife Beverley of Ocala, Florida; brother Paul Bergin Mauney, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Knightdale; grandson Brandon Wyont of Charlotte.

Kaye's funeral will be held 2 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tripp Hord officiating.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services.

Interment will follow in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
