Lonnie Kelly

Reverend Lonnie Lee Kelly, 87, passed away at home on Friday December 21, 2018. He was born June 28, 1931 in Gaston County to the late Annie Mae Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Dale; and his son, Rodney Dwayne Kelly.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 64 years, Zelma Dorsey Kelly; son Douglas Lee Kelly; grandchildren, Eli Kelly, Morgan Lee Kelly, and Alisha Kelly Robins; great-grandsons, Kris and Stephen Robbins; numerous nieces and nephews.

Reverend Kelly was a veteran of the United States Navy and was formerly employed with the City of Gastonia Police Force. He was a retired road driver with Bridges and Son of Gastonia. Reverend Kelly was also an Evangelist to road truckers with his mobile church "It's Gospel Time."

A Celebration of Reverend Kelly's life, officiated by Bro. Ronnie Pressley, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Bright Light Baptist Church.

His family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens.
