Bessemer City, North Carolina

Katherine Spencer Robinson, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Covenant Village, Gastonia. She was born November 9, 1928 in Gaston County, to the late Virginia "Virgie" Spencer.

Katherine was a graduate of Bessemer City High School. She was also in the second graduating class of Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She then graduated from the Charlotte Memorial School of Anesthesia. Katherine retired from Cleveland Medical Center of Shelby, North Carolina. She also served on several medical mission trips to Haiti.
Katherine served 10 years with the North Carolina Air National Guard as a flight nurse, and received an Honorable discharge with the rank of Major.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold Robinson, whom she married July 7, 1956; nephew Rick Robinson; niece Penny Parker; dear friend, Dolly Stewart.

In accordance to Katherine's wishes, her body has been donated to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem.

A Celebration of Katherine's Life, officiated by Dr. Sam Murphy and Rev. Tom Ravan, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Bessemer City.

Visitation will be one hour before to the service.

Katherine requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361-0338
