Jerry David “Jobo” Hall, Sr., age 72, of Wandering Lane, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born November 18, 1948 in Gaston County to the late Stanley David Hall, Sr. and the late Elsie Christine Lee Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, JoAnn Jenkins Hall; sister, Judy “Boots” Day; and brother-in-law, Dr. Thurman Henry Jenkins Jr.; mother-in-law Jean M. Jenkins; and father-in-law Thurman H. Jenkins, Sr.
Jerry was an outstanding son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, & great grandfather. He loved his family and church family deeply. He would help anybody if he were able.
Jerry a.k.a. Jobo was a dedicated member of the Bessemer City Church of God for more than 40 years. He served on the finance committee, taught Sunday School for the Young married couples, and senior adult class, which was his passion. Jerry a.k.a. Crook worked at Freightliner Truck Manufacturing Plant, Mt Holly, where he worked in shipping and receiving, and as an off line mechanic for more than 30 years. He was a proud member of the UAW. He retired from Freightliner in 2011. Upon retirement, he stayed busy spending time with his mother, wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jobo loved sports. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves, Duke, Minnesota Vikings, & the Bessemer City High School Football Team. He loved his hometown of Bessemer City. His hobbies were gardening, jogging, watching the kids & grandkids play sports, as well as, the great grandkids.
Left to celebrate his wonderful life are his Sons Jerry Hall, Jr (Michele), Michael S Hall, Sr., Grandchildren Michael S Hall, Jr, Jerry D Hall, III (Laura), Christopher D Hall, Pamela M Hall, Dillion B Hall, Hannah B Hall and Eric L Hall, Great Grandchildren Michael S. Hall, IIII, Makayla L. Hall, Trenton D. Hall, Stanley D. Hall, Bennett M. Hall and soon to be born Baby Girl Hall. Brothers Stanley “Punkin” Hall, Jr, Ed “Chubby” Hall, Tommy Hall, and Rick Hall. Sisters Jackie Jenkins, and Sunshine Hall. His Uncle Richard Hall. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hall will lie in state from 6:00 PM– 9:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Jerry’s funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Bessemer City Church of God with Rev. Harold Ashe, Chaplain Jerry David Hall, Jr., Bishop Wade Easom, and Rev. Don Capell.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
