James Smith

James Gordon "Jim" Smith, 74, passed away on Thursday March 9, 2017 at home. He was born November 28, 1942 in Spartanburg County, SC to James Walter Smith and Dovie Stinnett Smith Dover.

Jim loved fishing, golf, helping his family, and his beloved dog Fluffy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Smith; brother, Roy Gay Smith; sister Maxine Smith.

Left to cherish his memories is his son, Anthony Jacobs and wife Patty of Gastonia; daughters, Debbie Turner, Luan Threlkeld and husband Jerry all of Gastonia; brothers, Bobby Smith of Bessemer City, Gary "Punk" Smith and wife Pat of Kings Mountain, Roger and Annette Gee of Bessemer City; sisters, Brenda Carpenter and husband Don of Bessemer City, Kay Dobbins of Gastonia, Desi LaCount and husband Roger; grandchildren, Trey and Brad Turner, Ashley Dow, Chase Threlkeld, Cassie Walls, Michael Smith, Jessica Smith, and Amber Jacobs; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

His visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at the funeral home.
