James Odgen

James Elmer Ogden, 86, passed away at Carolina Care of Cherryville on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. He was born January 8, 1932 in Wayne County to the late William Taft and Blanch Cullpepper Odgen.

James was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Young, Grace Carver; brothers Ed Ogden, Harry Ogden and Richard Ogden; granddaughter Toni Marie Odgen

James was a veteran of the United States Marines.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marian Odgen of Carrboro, sons Andrew L Ogden and wife Barbara of Fort Meyers, FL, Anthony L. Ogden of Enoree, SC; step-son William Curtis Connor, MD of Carrboro; step-daughters Tina Reid of Cramerton, Toni Tindle and husband Paul of Springfield, MO; brother Bill Ogden and wife Shirley, Don Ogden and wife Faye, Roy Ogden and wife Sandy, Vern Odgen and wife Rose; brother-in-laws Ralph Huffstetler and wife Dee, MC Huffstetler and wife Joetta; numerous nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Jame's celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at South Gastonia Church of God with Rev. Bobby Gilley, Rev. Sam Barnette officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
