Hazel Bess

Hazel Worley Albright Bess, 95, of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Wendover Hospice, Shelby. She was born February 9, 1922 in Lindale, Georgia, daughter to the late James Gordon and Mattie Itau Pilgrim Worley.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Calvin Albright, second husband Willard Bess; son, Eric Albright; half-sister, Pearl Stout; and her son-in-law, Tommy Thrift.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Donna Thrift of the home; grandchildren, Bryan Thrift and wife Allison, Alan Thrift and wife Evgenia, Erica Albright, and Richard Albright; great-grandchildren, Wylie Thrift, Benjamin Le, and Madison Le; daughter-in-law, Patty Albright; sister-in-law, Mary Canipe; nephew Jerry Riddle and wife Joan; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Hazel's Life, will be held 11:00 am Friday February 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City with Dr. Chuck Brawley officiating.

Hazel's family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45am prior to her service at the church.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
