Gladys Carpenter

Gladys Virginia "Jenny" Carpenter, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born on June 15, 1929 in Gaston County to the late Samuel Other and Janie Elizabeth Stewart Bates.

She was preceded in death by her, son, James Michael Blackwood; brothers, Rev. John Thomas Bates, Jimmy Wallace Bates, Donald Wayne Bates

Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Carl Carpenter; sisters, Edna Champion, Nova Bolynn both of Gastonia; granddaughters, Sandra Engbarth, Kimberly Dubec; 4 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 6, 2017 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating.

Her family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
