Evelyn Chavis

Evelyn Hayes Watson Chavis, passed away at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, NC on Sunday April 2 2017. She was born November 30, 1939 in Gaston county to the late Julius V. and Mable Dover Hayes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Henry Watson; her daughter, Sherry W. Martin; her brothers, Ned, Gaither, and Steve Hayes, and her aunt Pearlie Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 22 years, Ernest Chavis; grandson, Johnathon Watson; her brother; Keith Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday April 5, 2017 at New Life Baptist Church, Bessemer City.

A funeral service, to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the church, with Dr. Gene Ware, and Rev. Sheila Grigg officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery
