Ethel Mae Goins Taylor, age 88, passed away on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. She was born September 23, 1929 in Gaston County to the late Henry Lee and Mary Jane Dameron Goins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Clyde Goins, Lee Goins, Jr., Ernest Goins; sisters Geneva Goins, Margie Alexander.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 69 years Edward Thomas Taylor; daughter Diane Taylor Herndon and husband David of Charlotte; brother David Goins and Wife Tina of Belmont; sister Irene Young; grandchild Michelle Herndon.

Ethel was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Bessemer City for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Tryon High School of Bessemer City and attended Evan's Business College of Gastonia. Ethel served as Treasure President of the Women's Group, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Reader. She worked 11 years with Southern Reneedling Works and retired from Gaston County Schools after 21 years of service. She taught swimming classes for Gaston County YMCA for 45 years.

A Celebration of Ethel's life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Connie Connley officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to her service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, PO Box 611, Bessemer City.
