EARL LINGERFELDT

Earl B. "Cotton" Lingerfeldt, 89, of Bessemer City, passed away peacefully at Alexandria Place, of Gastonia on Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born March 22, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Harper Bidwell and Fernie Neal Lingerfelt.

Earl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Elnita Strugis Lingerfeldt.

Earl was a lifetime member of Concord United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Utina out of Norfolk, Virginia. Earl retired from Dennison Mfg. after many years as professional ink technician. He also worked at Carolina Appliance in Bessemer City for many years. Earl was a founding member of Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department for many years until he retired.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Camellia L. Wright and husband Charles of Bessemer City, Shelia Whitaker and husband Terry of Dallas, Pam Lingerfeldt of Gastonia; grandchildren Candace Duncan, Tiffany Tarsitano, Shannon Whitaker; great-grandchildren Macall Covington, Caden Covington, Olivia Whitaker, Nathaniel Tarsitano; great-great-granddaughter Kara Paige An.

A celebration of Earl's life, officiated by Rev. Steve Weaver will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.

Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery, Bessemer City with full military rites by the Cherryville American Legion Post 100.

Earl's family will receive friends from 12 to 1pm prior to his service at the funeral home.
