David Garrett

David Harold Garrett, Sr., 66, passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at home. He was born on September 9, 1950 in Bessemer City to the late Marion Junuies and Vivian Splawn Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother; Nancy Short, Jimmy Garrett, Jeanette Bess, and Frances Blanton.

Harold was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Bessemer City and retired from Freightliner TMP, Mt. Holly. After retirement, he worked as a funeral assistant with Sisk-Butler Funeral Home. He will be remembered for his toughness, his stubbornness, and his sense of humor, including his "corny jokes."

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of nearly 34 years, Patricia Kiser Garrett; sons David H. Garrett, Jr. and wife Mary, J. Scott Garrett and wife Hannah, Steve Garrett and wife Amanda all of Bessemer City; stepson Jeff Hurst and wife Mary Anne of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Trey Garrett, Lauren Garrett, Ashley Garrett, Joseph Garrett, Zachary Garrett and wife Sydney, Katie Garrett, Cole Richardson, Erin and Emily Hurst; great granddaughter Kinley Garrett; daughter-in-law, Tracy Garrett; his best friend, Butch Gunckle and wife Shirley.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, August 18, 2017 at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City.

His Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2017 at First Wesleyan Church of Bessemer City with Rev. Wes Brown and Bishop Wade Easom officiating.

Interment will follow at Hephzibah ARP Church Cemetery.
