Clara Rohm

Clara Mae Cloninger Rohm, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2017, while at Courtland Terrace. She was born July 27, 1927 in Gaston County, daughter to the late Edie Lee Canipe Cloninger and Robert L. Cloninger of Dallas, N.C.

Left to cherish her memories are her two sons and daughter-in-law, Arthur L. Rohm, Jr., Ray Eugene Rohm and wife Grace Harbin Rohm. She had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Arthur L. Rohm, Sr. of Dallas; a daughter, Frances L. Holcombe of Dallas; two brothers, Arnold Marion Cloninger and Wilford Cloninger both of Dallas as well as one great-grandson, Robert Panther of Gastonia.

In her early years Clara was employed by Mathews-Belk in uptown Gastonia; she was later employed by Luxury Fabrics. She was owner of Draperies by Clara and was well known in surrounding counties as the consummate drapery maker. Her work included both commercial and residential projects. Clara worked until her health declined. She was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Dallas, where she taught Sunday School.

Clara's funeral will be held at 3pm Sunday, October 1, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan A. Schnibben officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 prior to the service at the Church.

Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery
