Betty Hager

Bessemer City, North Carolina

Betty Hord Carpenter Hager, age 88, passed away on Tuesday June 20, 2017, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby. She was born on April 15, 1929 in Kings Mountain to the late Horace and Kathleen Hord.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Carpenter, Sr. and her second husband, Ray Hager.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Donald (Rusty) Carpenter, Jr. and wife Jackie of Bessemer City; one grandson, Donald (Dusty) Carpenter III and wife Patricia of Bessemer City; one great-grandson, Cole Carpenter and three step-grandchildren, Kenny Smith, Jonah Dimeo and Ana Dimeo.

Betty worked in the insurance industry for over 35 years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City and developed many friendships in her years on the Bessemer City Bridge Club. She loved to travel, Daytona Beach being her favorite destination. Betty was absolutely full of life. She was the type of person that everyone loved to be around. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 6:30 pm Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Sisk-Butler Chapel with Pastor Tripp Hord officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include; Steve Lackey, Sr., Doug Cochcroft, Rick White, Bob Morris, Leslie Yarbro, and Chris Merritt.

Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.

Her family requests that any memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 110 W. Alabama Avenue, Bessemer City, N. C. 28016.
