Betty Lackey Deason 67, of Gastonia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday May 1, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born October 3, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, to the late William Cecil Lackey, Sr. and Thelma Devinny Lackey

Betty loved her family and her dog Buster.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Lackey Morrison; son, Rodney Lee Smith; brother, William Cecil Lackey, Jr.

Betty is survived by her husband Tom Jones Deason; grandchildren, Rodney Lee Smith II of Lincolnton; Mikayla Smith of LaFollette, TN, Keylee Smith of Lincolnton, Brooke Martin and husband, Chris of Gastonia; brother; Mark Lackey and wife Andrea of Irmo, SC; sister, June Barker and husband Willard of Gastonia; great-grandchildren, Madison Martin, Ansleigh Martin

Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, May 6, 2016 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services with the Rev. Dorothy Lowery officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
