Benton Jay Neal, 79, of Bessemer City, passed away at home on April 16, 2024. He was born November 16, 1944, in Gaston County, to the late James Edward Neal and Katherine Holland Horne.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James “Jim” Neal; daughter, Marcia Neal Price; infant son; stepfather, Kye Horne.
Benton was faithful in attendance, an active member for 53 years at Trinity Baptist Church. He loved serving the LORD and he was the chairman of the deacon board. He loved fishing and his family dearly. Benton was big in optimist and the little league baseball. He was also a big Carolina Tarheels fan. He never met a stranger, and he was hard working his entire life up until this last year.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Kandice Neal; sons, Greg Neal (Kristin), Mark Neal (Dottie); sister, Brenda Hardin; grandchildren, Steven Neal (Eleesha), Benji Neal (Sarah), Taylor Neal, Kaylee Neal (Daniel), Dylan Neal (Katie), Kayla Santana (Ramon), Bryan Treadwell; great grandchildren, Jase Neal, Dakota Funderburke, Kynleigh Neal, Cassie Neal, Bentley Neal, Ramon Santana III; sisters-in-law, Alice Neal, Cheryl Miller, Brenda Fortenberry; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, Bessemer City, on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Benton’s Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Robert Brooks officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Trinity Baptist Church in Benton’s honor.
